Trish Schaefer was born in South Dakota and raised on the Lower Brule Indian Reservation. She first discovered art at age three; won her first logo contest at age 11; and at 12 had her first art show hung in the Jr. High School Library. By high school she was designing school event programs and the seniors' class shirts. Bring on College!
BHSU turned out to be a whole other world to someone who had never taken a real art class, had a high school graduating class of 27, and who's life consisted of pig farming and cattle ranching. But she persevered, eventually graduating with an Assoc. in Commercial Art, a BS in Communication Arts with a Graphics Emphasis, and a Psych Minor. She also placed in University sponsored art and graphic shows, winning one, and did graphic design work for several University clubs, eventually working in the graphic design department for the University itself.
For five years Trish worked her way up from production artist to graphic designer. Like most commercial art graduates of the time she had assumed she was destined for an ad agency, but production art turned out to be a godsend. From her years as a working production artist for screen, web, pad, offset and digital press (and embroidery), Trish knows intimately how to take a design from idea to print seamlessly. During that time she also designed the 1997 Miller Lite State of Texas T-Shirt and showed several independent fine art shows.
Career taking up much of Trish's early adult life, she only recently married for the first time and has a 2-year old son. But at the age of 41 Trish believes her career is still just taking off.
